I found my calling in birth work after studying systemic gaps in paid family medical leave act policies and birth outcomes in the U.S. as a Master of Social Work candidate. In response, I enrolled in Ancient Song Doula Service’s full spectrum training program due to its strong emphasis on reproductive justice in policy and practice. Upon completing this training I sought mentorship through Manhattan Birth’s First Year Mentorship program where I had the privilege to complete a work study component under a midwife and I gained real world experience by volunteering with the Institute for Family Health.
Over the years I’ve been able to secure more experience supporting a total of 7 births and 3 postpartum families with various organizations including Good Beginnings of Central Vermont and Colorado Volunteer Doulas Project. With each family I’ve supported I have witnessed the deeply intimate aspects of adjusting to a newborn. Observations made during this period inspired me to pursue additional training including a yoga alliance approved RYT-200 with Rise and Vibe School of Yoga and Integrative Lactation and Feeding Specialist at Manhattan Birth.
I am therefore able to provide families a holistic and trauma-informed set of services related to birth, postpartum, and lactation or feeding depending on individual needs or goals. I take pride in my ability to meet families where they are, build rapport with families and hospital staff, and improve comfort for both the birthing person and partner if one is present.
If you are seeking support during this time, I’d love to connect on how my services can help you meet your needs or achieve your goals as I am welcoming new clients in the Denver, Colorado area.
